Here are the 2011 reading challenges I am participating in. Click on the pictures to get more info on each of the challenges.

The Quirky Brown reading challenge is about finding books written by Black authors that challenge the stereotypes of the “Black Experience” that are typically highlighted in literature .I’m going to do level four in this challenge which is five or more books.

The East and South East Asia challenge focuses on books about folks from: Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea, People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, South Korea, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor (Timor-Leste), Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. You only have to read three books,  and it doesn’t matter what genre they fall under

This challenge was put into place to put the spotlight on characters and authors of color. You can pick from any genre and you can combine it with other challenges ( I don’t think I’ll do that though, that way I get to read more books). I am going for the highest level of 16-25 books.

The m/m romance challenge is a first for me. I’ve read tons of lesbian fiction where we always seem to be detectives, cops,CIA agents and I’m hoping for something a bit different with the fellas. I’ve signed up for 5 books. Lets hear it for the boys!!

I love the library.I get the majority of my books there. I consider librarians great equalizers and guardians of civil liberties. I am reading the highest level in this challenges which is 50 books. Go hug your librarian today!!

The Pick you Poison Challenge is hosted by My cup of tea. You get to create your own challenge level and your own categories. I really like that idea so I picked Monkshood level wich is 12 books per categorie. My categories are : 1 Blacks in space, I’ll be reading  sci-fi/fantasy books where the main character is black. 2 Dystopian YA with a female protagonist and 3 Paranormal series mash up, which is how im gonna catch up with all the different paranoral books out there.
